…precisely the words I’d expect to hear from my Mumma.
Call it a hallmark tradition; a way for businesses to make some extra cash; or a soppy family tradition, Mother’s Day is a great excuse to not only remember the women in our lives who sacrifice daily and love unconditionally but to lean into our own mother energy that we all, female and male, have.
And that is…
Our ability to love
To show compassion
To nurture
To self sooth
To give when it’s all you’ve got
To be of service
To lend an ear
This Mother’s Day, be kind to yourself. If you don’t, no one else will.
To celebrate and honour my own mother (who by the way sacrificed so damn much), here are a few words:
Thank you for sharing and teaching your adventurous spirit, fun-loving attitude & that you’re never too old to be a kid. I love you more than you can know and not a day goes by when I think of you do I count my lucky stars for all that you sacrificed so that I could have so many incredible opportunities. I like to think they paid off and that I’ve made you proud. You taught me the importance of good work ethics and that a ‘job worth doing is worth doing well’ (eyes roll as I’m sweeping the veranda or doing some other chore), that a bag of Licorice Allsorts are a delight & to hold your breath when The Swans are in a tight game. Biggest of love, Mumma, your Kate 🦋💕
