I believe the key to a happy and successful life is fulfilment.
When I get home at the end of the day and feel like I’ve squeezed out every last drop and given back and in some way through what I love doing most and ‘contributed’ to society, I’m happy.
I believe we, as society, have forgotten how to slow down and enjoy the every day. I believe that we’re currently spreading ourselves too thin, saying yes to too many things, being everything to everyone and getting nothing done.
By the end of the day we feel scattered and mentally drained but perhaps the biggest problem of all – we feel unfulfilled.
Here’s the solution:
Do less. Pause more.
These pauses are like little moments in which your truths can catch up and you remember who you are and what you really want to do – be it on your to do list or the big goals you have in life in general.
Here are three of my top tips on how to apply more pauses to your day so that you take back control and feel more fulfilment.
- MORNING RITUAL. Start your day with five minutes of quiet sitting, focusing on the breath.
- SAVASANA. Take savasana – don’t skip it. Skipping it is like baking a cake and not icing it. I think if everyone practiced savasana for five minutes at any point in their day (not just in your typical yoga practice) – the world would be a better place.
- REFLECT: Take five minutes at the end of your day to pause and reflect on all the good you did today and how or how you could improve tomorrow. Be kind to yourself in this. Digesting the day makes space for tomorrow.
